Encouraging televising ratings (TVR) were delivered by the national cricket teams of India and Pakistan in their most recent encounter, at the Asia Cup 2012 in Bangladesh on 18 March.
Mumbai based monitor, TAM Media Research, said the match provided a rating of 3.7 TVR for India's public broadcaster Doordarshan, while the Neo Cricket channel picked up 5.7 TVR for the target C&S 4+ across India. Combined, the match's TVR reached 9.4.
Rajneesh Chaturvedi, National Director, MEC Access said, "Considering the fact that India had just come back from a bad Australia tour, advertisers should be happy about these numbers," Rajneesh Chaturvedi, national director, MEC Access, told Exchange4Media.
The Asia Cup features the four cricketing nations of south Asia - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh - all competing in one day matches for the coveted trophy.
While India won the match against Pakistan, the latter country won this year's Asia Cup, narrowly defeating Bangladesh by two runs in a gripping final on 22 March.
TV coverage for the event was produced by Nimbus Sport and the broadcast TV partner in India was the Nimbus-owned Neo Cricket.
