Study to predict TV ratings during IPL 5

MEC is to issue its fourth television ratings prediction study for the forthcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket on Monday (2 April).

The MEC IPL TVR prediction study, powered by WPP company Meritus Analytics India, also looks at the viewing habits of twenty20 (T20) cricket enthusiasts influenced by cricket fatigue, team popularity, player popularity and scheduling of matches, reports Exchange 4 Media.

"With investments in IPL being significant, the ability to accurately estimate viewership is a huge advantage to all stakeholders. We have used a combination of primary consumer research and strategic factor modelling to arrive at the TV ratings," said T Gangadhar, managing director, MEC India.

Advertisers are hoping for another successful IPL tournament in terms of television audience share, after disappointing performances recently by the national cricket team of India.

The DFL IPL Season 5 starts on 4 April and runs until 27 May 2012.
