Geo TV, Sports bag IPL for Pakistan, Sri Lanka

Geo TV in Pakistan and Sports in Sri Lanka will broadcast the current Indian Premier League (IPL) twenty20 cricket tournament, following agreement with the local TV rights holder Sporty Solutionz.

A sub-licensing agreement for the IPL broadcast rights in Pakistan and Sri Lanka was reached earlier this month between sports rights management company Sporty Solutionz and IPL 5 rights holder Sony-Multi Screen Media (MSM).

"We are extremely fortunate and proud to be associated with the Indian Premier League. We are thankful to Sony-MSN for giving us this opportunity," said Ashish Chadha, chief executive, Sporty Solutionz.

"Though Pakistani players are not playing in the IPL, it's an international game and everybody is interested in it. There are lots of buyers for this particular property in Pakistan."

Earlier this year, Sporty Solutionz acquired the worldwide rights to market and license the Bangladesh Premier League cricket tournament during its inaugural season.
