Eros set to acquire Bollywood broadcaster B4U

A US$53.1 million take-over of Bollywood service B4U is being planned by Eros International, which already owns 24% of the Indian broadcaster.

B4U operates two digital television channels – B4U Music and B4U Movies – which are available in over 100 countries, including India, the Middle East, Africa, the US, Canada and the UK.

"We are delighted to announce our anticipated acquisition of the remaining 76% of B4U," said Kishore Lulla, chairman and chief executive, Eros International.

"We expect that B4U's global network, as well as its film and music content, will complement Eros' existing product offering."

B4U licenses both recently released and older film titles from Indian content providers, including Eros, for its Indian-dedicated movie channel. Eros also supplies content for its music channel.

The TV network is currently controlled by steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal and industrialist Gokul Binani.
