MP & Silva acquire more Asian TV rights for English football

Media rights to distribute the Football League and Capital One Cup – previously known as the Carling or League Cup – across Asia until 2017 have been acquired by agency MP & Silva, adding to its already strong English collection of the Premier League, FA Cup and the matches played by England's national football team.

"Our Capital One Cup and Football League agreement is another demonstration of the significant role MP & Silva is playing to increase the popularity of English football across Asia even further," said Andrea Radrizzani, chief executive, M&P Silva Group.

"Given the deal will include so many thrilling live matches and highlights, football fans across Asia will be able to follow all tiers of English football and never miss any of the action."

The agreement includes 20 live broadcasts of Capital One Cup matches, highlights of each round, and five-minute online match clips. The Cup involves 20 Premier League clubs and 72 Football League clubs competing for the trophy, with the final held at Wembley Stadium each April.

MP & Silva also becomes the Asian distributor of up to 90 matches from the nPower Football League Championship, League One and League Two – the football leagues in England that follow the Premier League.

In addition to English football, MP & Silva also boasts the Asian media rights to Italy's Serie A, France's Ligue 1, Germany's Bundesliga, Brazilian League and World Cup qualifier matches.
