Captain to provide rolling TV news from Tamil Nadu

Captain Media, owned by Tamil actor and politician Vijayakant, is to launch its first rolling news TV channel at the end of August, to air alongside the existing entertainment and news channel Captain TV.

"We are happy to inform you that Captain Media Private Limited will launch its 24-hour news channel Captain News from August 29," L K Sudheesh, managing director, Captain Media is quoted as saying by the PTI.

This latest rolling news channel in India will provide unbiased and quality reporting, Sudheesh added.

Captain News was reportedly due to launch in January 2012, to coincide with the Pongal festival season, but has clearly suffered delays.

Captain Media is backed by film star Vijayakanth, founder of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) political party which operates in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
