PlatformPlay links with BrizzTV for new TV ad platform


Indian start-up venture PlatformPlay has formed an exclusive partnership with Bangalore-based BrizzTV, for what they believe is a revolutionary way to deliver advertising to the broadcast media.

BrizzTV has developed a patent-pending television advertising technology platform called Google Ads on Broadcast TV. The platform will, according to the companies, allow brands to advertise non-video advertisements directly on direct-to-home (DTH) television from the Internet. Advertisers can upload the content on their website and choose in which geographical location it should be seen, along with the campaign start and end dates. There will also be an option for brands to use multiple creatives together that will self-rotate during the campaign period.

"We have fundamentally re-imagined the TV industry for the new age by opening it up for new media content, new ad formats and a new set of advertisers – all at the same time adding more value to consumers, service providers and broadcasters," said Amarendra Sahu, co-founder and CEO, BrizzTV.

In the future, BrizzTV plans to develop the platform to enhance the experience of television viewers by overlaying on screen live social network conversations about the particular show they are watching.

Rammohan Sundaram, chairman and managing director, PlatformPlay Media Ventures, said: "One of our core strength is to create value through monetisation for all the innovative brands looking at scale in the Indian market, and to that effect to me this was a clear winner from the moment I understood its capabilities. I am all the more excited because this is completely user-initiated and is a very new way to reach TV households when they are most receptive."

BrizzTV is venture capital backed by Ojas Ventures, while PlatformPlay (which launched in March 2013) is backed by Harish Bahl and Manish Vij's Smile Vun Group.
