Vh1 India to show Golden Globe awards

Youth entertainment TV channel Vh1 is to air the 71st edition of the Golden Globe Awards on 13 January 2014 in India.

The show, to be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will honour achievements in the film and television industry over the past year. A-list nominees include Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench, Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford, Idris Elba, Tom Hanks and Chiwetel Ejiofor, with 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Philomena and Rush vying for the award for best motion picture, drama.

Contending for the Golden Globe for television drama are the Netflix-streamed House of Cards, Showtime's Masters of Sex, AMC's Breaking Bad, PBS' Downton Abbey and CBS' The Good Wife.

"Over the years, Vh1 has given its audiences the best of international entertainment. We look forward to captivating the viewers with the live telecast of the first award ceremony of the year – the Golden Globes and I am sure the viewers will thoroughly enjoy watching the who's who of Hollywood on the channel. There couldn't have been a better start to the year," said Ferzad Palia, SVP and business head, English entertainment, Viacom 18.
