Network18 to launch new TV channels

India's Network 18 is to launch a Gujarati business news channel called CNBC Bazaar, as well as two entertainment channels, according to local reports.

MTV Indies will comprise 100% local content when launched in the next 15-20 days, while Rishtey will become the broadcaster's second general entertainment channel after Colors, its Viacom joint venture, according to the Press Trust of India.

The Gujarati business news channel will join Network 18's existing news channels: CNN-IBN, IBN7, CNBC TV 18, CNBC Awaaz, IBN Lokmat. Network 18 is also launching an online business website called firstbiz.com.

"The media industry is doing well at present, and this is something which has been in the making for the last 10 years," Raghav Bahl, founder and managing director, Network 18 Group, told guests at the CNBC India Business Leader Awards in Mumbai.
