Deutsche Welle seals content, coproduction deal with DD

The German international broadcaster Deutsche Welle and Indian state broadcaster Doordarshan (DD) are to work together to co-produce content and events, thanks to a partnership agreement signed today in New Delhi.

The agreement also reportedly encompasses the provision by Deutsche Welle of selected content for India's public television network. The two broadcasters will now exchange programmes in the genres of science, technology, lifestyle, global issues, and events.

Training will also form part of the new partnership, which was signed by Tripurai Sharan, director general of Doordarshan and Erik Bettermann, director general of Deutsche Welle.

Deutsche Welle has been broadcasting in India since 2009, when it launched DW-TV Asia across the country's major cable and direct to home satellite networks.
