BIG Magic to screen kids TV talent show from Hindi heartland

A new reality TV show showcasing the talent of India's children is being shaped by Reliance Broadcast Network's BIG Magic, which has now announced that auditions will be held in 14 cities across Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.

Slated for transmission in mid December, the first devotional singing talent contest for children called BIG Bal Kalakaar, will be hosted by Indian Idol's Prajakta Shurkre. The jury will comprise music director Jatin Pandit and Padma Bhushan and singers Rajan-Sajan Mishra, while the contestants will be mentored by Gulshan Bharti.

"BIG Bal Kalakaar celebrates and acknowledges the devotional singing geniuses among little children of the region. This innovative talent hunt recognises the purity and innocence of young singers as well as propagates positive values to all children in the region through the medium of devotional singing," Anand Chakravarthy, executive vice president, marketing, RBNL, and business head, BIG Magic told Exchange4Media.

"Since this is our first big reality show, we would be promoting our show through BIG FM and BIG Magic. Along with that, we have targeted local print media, cable, SMS pushes and banners for advertising. We have spent around INR 1.2 crore to get the maximum impact through the marketing and promotions," he added.

The 14 auditions will take place in Bareilly, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Allahabad, Patna, Ranchi, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Bhopal, Indore, Agra, Mathura and Varanasi. Following the auditions, ten children will be selected for the 26 themed episode TV series.
