Indian TV viewers can now watch the award winning international news channel Al Jazeera English, after it was wished success for launch on 17 November by the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
During a meeting with Al Anstey, managing director, Al Jazeera English, and India bureau chief Anmol Saxena, the Prime Minister said: "Al Jazeera is gaining quite a reputation worldwide. I wish them success for their launch in India."
Now available on Dish TV - India's largest direct to home (DTH) satellite platform in terms of subscriber numbers – the Qatar-based news channel will be available to 11.7 million households subscribing to Dish TV's family pack, on channel 618. The DTH provider now boasts over 330 channels.

Al Jazeera English, which launched in 2006, now has over 70 bureaux around the world – including one in New Delhi. It was granted a licence to broadcast in India in December 2010. The channel currently broadcasts to over 250 million households across 130 countries.
