Colors criticised for introducing porn star to Bigg Boss house

The appearance of Canadian porn star Sunny Leone in Bigg Boss 5 has drawn harsh criticism from the Indian Artistes and Actors Forum (IAFF), which has this week lodged an official complaint with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

The informal body of actors, singers, and musicians working in the film and television industry, believe Colors, the channel behind reality TV show Big Boss, is in violation of the broadcasting code by indirectly promoting adult content in the show, according to India Blooms News Service.

"We have written an official letter of complaint to the I&B Minister Ambika Soni asking her to take stringent action against the channel for indirectly encouraging and promoting pornography in India via the introduction of a porn star Sunny Leone in the Bigg Boss House," said Flynn Remedios of the IAFF.

"Sunny Leone has proclaimed on her website 'as seen on Bigg Boss 5', but the website is nothing but a hard core porn site and there is no mechanism to stop minors from accessing the website. We have emailed the complaint to the minister as well as sent the same by registered post to her office," he added.

Because Big Boss viewers of every age wish to know more about Ms Leonne, many will type her name in an internet search engine and be 'exposed to hard core pornographic content', says the IAFF.

The forum has requested the minister to "take immediate and stringent action for this violation of the broadcast code and ensure that other TV channels in future do not introduce porn actors in family shows."
