Sai Kumar promoted to head up Network 18

The new group chief executive officer at India's Network 18 has been announced as B Sai Kumar, following the departure of Haresh Chawla earlier this month.

Sai Kumar, 37, who has worked for the company for eleven years, previously held the post of publisher of Forbes India and chief operational officer of Network 18.

Joining the boards of Viacom 18 and HomeShop 18, he will also oversee the group's news, internet, publishing, factual entertainment and other assets, including the IBN news network, CNBC-TV18 business news network, Web18, Yellow Pages, Forbes India, and AETN 18.

Founder and editor of Network 18, Raghav Bahl said: "Haresh has led Network18 with extraordinary distinction in the first phase of our growth and identity. Now, as we gear up for our most ambitious phase yet, I am convinced that Sai has the inclusive skills and mature leadership that are needed to get us there. He has our best wishes and our wholehearted support."

His predecessor, Haresh Chawla, added: "Sai Kumar has seen the network grow from its very early days across various businesses, which has given him a width of experience that is tough to find in the media business. He is an accomplished leader and a true people's person and I have no doubt that he'll take the legacy forward to even greater heights."
