New Indian sci-fi channel from Viacom18

December will see the launch of Sonic, Viacom 18's fifth television channel in India after its Hindi entertainment offering Colors, youth channel MTV, children's channel Nick, and VH1 music channel.

The new 24 hour science fiction based channel, aimed at Indians aged 10-17, will provide action, adventure and animation programming as a mix of television series and films.

About six to seven hours of original content will be included among the content aired on Sonic, which will be available in four languages serving the Hindi heartland, according to afaqs!

The channel reportedly aims to be 'sci-fi platform for the wi-fi generation'.

Viacom 18 is a 50:50 joint venture between the US entertainment content company Viacom Inc and India's Network 18, a media conglomerate with interests in television, internet, filmed entertainment, mobile content and allied businesses.
