Sun TV launches four new HD channels

India's Sun TV network is launching four new premium high definition channels in the Tamil and Telugu languages today (11 December).

The addition of Sun TV HD, K TV HD, and Sun Music HD in Tamil, and Gemini TV HD for Telugu viewers, further bolsters the network's broadcast offering for Southern India.

The channels will be available across the company's Sun Direct direct to home (DTH) satellite TV service and digital cable platforms across India, priced at INR 40 per month per channel for all except Sun Music HD, which will be available at INR 25 a month. Alternatively, the entire bouquet can be acquired by subscribers for INR 100 per month.

Sun TV, which is owned by Kalanidhi Maran, has a reach of about 95 million households in India, with a particularly strong presence in the Southern Indian markets of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala.

The satellite network’s channels can also be viewed in 27 countries around the world, including the US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, New Zealand, and across Europe.
