Cartoon Network has launched the 11th edition of Cartoon Network New Generations study, which looks at the lifestyle and media consumption habits of Indian families.
Cartoons remain the preference of children across age groups, with 63% of boys and girls tuning in. Favourite shows include Chhota Bheem, Ben 10, Doraemon, Mr Bean and Tom and Jerry. Cartoons are also popular among parents, with 25% listing cartoons as their favourite programme. Three in five parents watch TV together with their kids every day.
Some 58% of children use computers, although only 19% own one. The report found that the majority of children use the internet at places other than their homes, such as cyber cafes, schools or at houses of friends and relatives.
Mobile phones are more popular than ever, with 73% of Indian children using mobile phones - 9% own their own mobiles. Making calls and gaming are the the two most popular activities on mobiles.
