Killer Karaoke to air on Zee Tamizh

Zee TV's Tamil channel Zee Tamizh is to debut the Zodiak Media format Killer Karaoke in India, from Saturday 14 December.

All 42 one-hour episodes of the entertainment show are being produced by Zodiak Media's Indian production house Sol Production.

"Zee Tamizh is very proud to be associated with Zodiak and Sol Production. This is the first time Zee Tamizh has acquired an international format and we are excited that Killer Karaoke, which is called Y This Kolaveri here, is the one. This decision is aligned with our goal to offer new and fresh content to our audience," said N S Easwaran, business head, Zee Tamizh.

Fazila Allana, joint managing director, Sol Production, added: "We are very excited to be bringing Zodiak Media's hit format Killer Karaoke as our first show in the Tamil language in India for Zee Tamizh. The show is a perfect blend of singing and comedy and we have very high expectations of it being a big hit for Zee Tamizh."

Killer Karaoke is now showing in Thailand on the MCOT channel, while BHD Co Ltd of Vietnam, Hang Meas HDTV of Cambodia, and TV5 of the Philippines have also recently been licensed by Zodiak Rights to air local versions of the international format.

"Killer Karaoke continues to roll into territories across the globe, as evidenced by this latest deal in India. This feel-good format hits the mark when it comes to what broadcasters are looking for at the moment; highly promotable entertainment with great music and laugh-out-loud moments of slap-stick humour ... we are absolutely delighted that Indian audiences will have an opportunity to join in the fun," said Barnaby Shingleton, head of entertainment, Zodiak Rights.
