Narayan Rao remains head of News Broadcasters Association

Narayan Rao, executive vice chairman of NDTV Group, has been re-elected president of India’s News Broadcasters Association (NBA) for the coming year.

Barun Das, chief executive of Zee News, was also reappointed vice president at the NBA’s annual general meeting on 21 September.

The position of honorary treasurer went to Ashok Venkatramani, chief executive of Media Content and Communications Services – which runs the Star News, Star Majha and Star Ananda news channels.

The other NBA board members for 2011-2012 comprise: Rajat Sharma, chairman of Independent News Services; Sunil Lulla, managing director and chief executive of Times Television Network; and B Sai Kumar, chief operating officer, Network 18 Group.

The NBA, which currently counts 20 broadcasters or 45 channels as its members, represents the views of private TV news and current affairs broadcasters in India.
