TV reality show Big Boss 5 goes on air on Viacom 18's Colors from tonight (2 October), with gossip circulating around not only which celebrity contestants will appear but also who might appear as a guest host.
The house, now located at Karjat instead of Lonavala, will act as both home and prison over the next three months for 14 contestants, rumoured to include shamed boxer Mike Tyson and Latin pop sensation Shakira.
Returning to season 5 is host, actor Salman Khan, who this year will be joined by co presenter Sanjay Dutt. The show's Facebook site says: "the chemistry between to the two is expected to be rocking and they have already warned the inmates to get ready for the 'double vaat' on the show."
There are also rumours today that Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan will appear on the show, in spite of his public differences with Salman Khan. The actor / producer has been making a number of appearances on reality shows ahead of the launch of his new superhero movie Ra.One later this month, and his friendship with Sanjay Dutt is said to make the appearance more likely.
Ex-cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, model Poonam Pandey, Pakistani actress Meera Irtiza Rubab, Nach Baliye 3 winners Aaamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh are all said to be participating in the Indian version of the successful Endemol format, known elsewhere in the world as Big Brother. Nihita Biswas, the wife of serial killer Charles Sobraj (tagged by tabloids as the 'bikini killer'), and international singer Jay Sean are also reported to be appearing in Big Boss 5.
Last year global headlines were made with the introduction of Baywatch actress and animal rights campaigner Pamela Anderson to the Big Boss 4 house – and corresponding calls by the government for Colors to shift the transmission slot from prime time.
The Facebook blog says: "As in all the previous seasons, Big Boss 5 is expected to bring together the wackiest and sexiest bunch of celebrities under one roof. So get ready for a heady cocktail of fights, kisses, break ups and naach-gaana!"
Big Boss 5 will air on Colors at 7pm and 10pm every evening from 2 October 2011 to 7 January 2012.
