Dish TV plans 19 channels in Andhra Pradesh

India's Dish TV is to launch 19 regional channels in Andhra Pradesh on 11 October, according to Business Standard.

The nation's leading direct to home (DTH) satellite provider in terms of subscription numbers, reportedly says the new regional channels will encompass the genres of current affairs, entertainment, movies and music.

Ravi Chandra Mocrela, deputy vice president of south-II zone, Dish TV, also told Business Standard that the operator had launched a new South World pack of channels for INR 275 per month, providing about 290 channels including sports, English movies, news, lifestyle and regional content.

Dish TV is reducing the price of its standard bouquet to INR 135, while high definition (HD) packs will start at INR 375, according to the report.

The platform, which competes with five other private DTH players in India, passed the 10 million subscriber mark in February 2011.
