Bollywood and PM pay tribute to Steve Jobs

Government figures and Bollywood stars have been sharing their grief at the death of Steve Jobs, dazzling visionary and co-founder of Apple, who lost a seven year battle with pancreatic cancer yesterday (5 October).

India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said: "I am deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Steve Jobs. He was truly an innovative man and taught us new ways to connect and communicate."

Tributes have poured in worldwide for the brilliant creator of the iMac, iTunes, iPod, iPhone and iPad, who has died at the age of 56.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, tweeted: "RIP Steve Jobs. The Man, The Visionary, The Creator & The Genius that gave the world the Apple Technology. May God be with you and your family, for my family & I have enjoyed your work for many years now. You opened so many doors and gave the world so much with your expertise. ThankYouSteve."

"Thank you Steve Jobs for making our lives so much easier. Your vision and aesthetic will live on forever. RIP," said actor-director-producer, Farhan Akhtar.

Actress Celine Jaitly posted: "3 Apples changed the world. 1st one seduced Eve, 2nd fell on Newton, 3rd was offered to the world - half bitten by Steve Jobs (sic)."

Indian Industrialist Ratan Tata added that Apple products "perhaps brought about the greatest change in the way people wirelessly listen to music, view visual images, exchange data and communicate. He has changed the way of life of many. Apple's products, under his leadership, have had a profound impact on mankind, unequalled by any other company in the information and technology space."

Actor Ranvir Shorey simply said: "Innovation & technology have lost their greatest champion yet. RIP Steve Jobs."
