Hindi channels added to Dutch cable line-up

UPC, the second largest cable operator in the Netherlands, is adding Hindi entertainment channels Star Gold and Star Life OK to its South Asian channel offering.

The new channels – which are subtitled in English – will be available to subscribers with immediate effect as part of UPC's Hindi pack, which already includes Star Plus, Zee TV, Zee Cinema and Zing.

"The Netherlands is home to the second largest Hindi-speaking population [in Europe] after the UK and we are delighted to partner with UPC to offer additional Star channels in this significant market," said Yeshpal Sharma, Star TV's senior vice president, UK & Europe.

Hans Blom, vice president marketing and service at UPC Nederland, added: "Due to the large Hindi-speaking population amongst our customers, the Hindi Pack is our leading ethnic premium pack. Our Hindi-speaking customers requested us to bundle our Hindi offering and expand the number of channels. In collaboration with Star TV, we did. We are happy we can now announce an interesting and entertaining bundle of Hindi channels for a competitive price."

UPC's Hindi Pack is available from mid-April for €15.25 per month.
