Indian MSO Bhagyanagar opts for Conax content security

Hyderabad-based multi-system operator (MSO) Bhagyanagar Digital Services is installing content security technology from Conax to aid its migration from an analogue to digital cable TV network.

Bhagyanagar – a consortium of cable TV operators in the capital of India's fourth largest state Andhra Pradesh – will now be able to implement secure pay-TV models, reduce churn, smooth the way to digitisation, and benefit from the opportunities digital networks provide, according to Conax.

"Key factors in selecting Conax include the expert guidance we have received, flexibility, India based 24/7 support service, long experience in digitisation and strong proven security track record in both India and around the globe. Additionally, Conax offers us short time-to-market and a wide range of security-certified, cost-effective set-top boxes," said AV Pullarao, managing director, Bhagyanagar Digital Services.
India is currently part way through a nationwide programme to digitise its entire cable TV network, and many MSOs have complained at a lack of availability of set-top boxes.

Are Mathisen, VP Asia Sales, Conax said: "In deploying Conax Contego Broadcast, Conax will guide Bhagyanagar Digital Services' pay-TV operators in building a strong foundation for subscriber and revenue growth during this exciting digitisation phase, including a strong road map for integrating additional types of networks and services in the future."

New value add-ons such as video-on-demand and advanced multiscreen services can be added to the platform at a later date, according to demand.
