House of Cards to premiere in India on Zee Café

Zee Café has acquired the acclaimed American political drama House of Cards from video-on-demand (VOD) streaming service Netflix and will bring it to Indian audiences in February.

Staring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, the show – written by Beau Willimon – centres around politician Frank Underwood (Spacey) as he exacts his revenge on those who betrayed him.

"House Of Cards is a ground-breaking show and there is already a lot of buzz and excitement surrounding it. The content has a universal appeal and the viewers here are definitely going to enjoy watching the show," said Anurag Bedi, executive VP and business head, Zee Café said

The entire first season made its debut on Netflix on 1 February 2013, and has since won or been nominated for a host of awards, including three Emmy wins. One of these, the prestigious 'Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series', created history, as it was the first time that a major category award was given to an online video provider instead of a TV network.

House Of Cards premieres in India on Zee Café on 20 February and will be shown Monday to Friday at 11pm.
