Zee TV picks LiveU mobile uplink option

India's Zee TV is to install LiveU uplink technology to enhance the news coverage and entertainment content for its portfolio of satellite channels.

"Zee is a household name in India and recognized as one of the most innovative

entertainment channels in Asia. It's exciting to see how LiveU is helping Zee to bring more live coverage of news, sports and entertainment events to millions of viewers inside and outside of India," said Manny Mukhtar, vice president of sales, APAC, LiveU.

Ajay Jain, chief executive of LiveU's Indian distributor, Lamhas Satellite Services added: "With satellite bandwidth constraints for SNG [satellite news gathering] use, LiveU provides the missing link for broadcasters for their newsgathering operations. Not only existing but emerging news channels now depend on LiveU for daily newsgathering."

LiveU already provides portable video-over-cellular solutions to India's Times Television Network, operator of channels such as Times Now and ET Now.

Zee, meanwhile, claims to attract over 500 million viewers in 167 countries around the globe.
