Government rolls out Arasu Cable TV in Chennai

State-run Arasu Cable TV has started broadcasting from Chennai, with the aim to ‘break the monopoly’ in the cable business.

Arasu Cable TV will offer 155 digital and analogue channels as part of its bouqet. It will charge a monthly subscription of Rs 70 for 100 channels and customers will have to pay separately for additional pay channels.

The company is currently firming up the tender contract for procuring digital set-top boxes, and says it will distribute the set-top boxes on a first-come-first-served basis.
