Dish TV launches SD recorder

With India's cable TV digitisation deadline looming, Dish TV has launched India's first SD recorder aimed at non-HD TVs. It is priced competitively at Rs 1590.

The Dish+ is a standard set-top box with unlimited recording facility. The content stored is encrypted and cannot be played on any other device. Features include playing back programs, pausing or rewinding live TV, different playback positions, event-based recording (EBR) and time-based recording (TBR).

Salil Kapoor, chief operating officer, Dish TV India, said: "Dish+ is a comeback of recorders in the living room and is a clear differentiator vis-a-vis other alternatives including digital cable. Its highly competitive launch price will position it as a preferred option amongst all DTH buyers."
